Processes related to innovation are managed by the Corporate Innovation Committee, made up of directors who decide on main actions and determine projects. Each business unit has its own subcommittees to make decisions on local initiatives.

Klabin uses collaborative mechanisms to build its R&D initiatives, such as pitch days to attract startups, open challenges, partnerships with universities and research centers, intrapreneurship initiatives, and projects with customers and suppliers.

Progress in Superar (Surpass)

The year 2024 was marked by the revision of Klabin’s Superar (Surpass) accreditation scheme, which provides an example of transformation through innovation. Another highlight was the training of 39 internal auditors, including managers, coordinators, specialists and analysts, to award Superar accreditation. These professionals attended synchronous virtual classes taught by instructors from Carlos Alberto Vanzolini Foundation, an institution created and led by professors from the Production Engineering Department at the Escola Politécnica da Universidade de São Paulo (University of São Paulo Polytechnic School). They also took part in pilot audits carried out at the following sites: Monte Alegre and Ortigueira (Paraná), Lages and Correia Pinto (Santa Catarina), Piracicaba Corrugated Cardboard and Angatuba (São Paulo), and Goiana Industrial Paper Sacks and Goiana Corrugated Cardboard (Pernambuco).

In 2025, this group will put its knowledge into practice during evaluations that will take place at all plants to measure their maturity in line with the Superar methodology, following the new parameters. This self-assessment process is important for identifying areas for improvement and optimizing deliveries. An significantly increase effect is expected in the sharing of knowledge related to the best practices encouraged by Superar.
